Pine trees for garden decoration
A garden is pleasant to look at all year round, but to bring a variety of colors and splendor to it in winter, you need to plant conifers. Pine trees can decorate your garden in various shades of green, blue, and even yellow in winter.
In recent years, pine trees have become increasingly popular among garden owners. They have also taken a place in my heart, so I will share with you some noteworthy varieties of mountain pine and black pine.
Pines (Lat. Pinus) are trees and shrubs, wind-resistant. They grow best in fairly loose sandy soils, over-fertilization is not recommended. Sun-loving. Recommended pH – 5.5-7.0.
Mountain pines (Lat. Pinus mugo) are more commonly found in backyard gardens, and they are popular for their compact size.
- Mountain pine variety “Benjamin” with a distinctly small, compact size, reaching only 0.2-0.3 m in height, 0.3-0.5 m in width, needles dark green, short, dense;
- Mountain pine variety “Golden Glow”, medium size, height 1.3-1.5 m, conical crown, upward-facing, needles yellow all year round;
- Mountain pine variety “Mini Mops” is small in size, height 0.3-0.5 m, width 0.5-0.8 m, crown pillow-shaped, needles dark green, short, dense;
- Mountain pine variety "Varella" has a pronounced dwarf form, height 0.3-0.6 m, width 0.3-0.5 m, needles dark green, long. A beautiful and interesting variety;
- Mountain pine variety "Wintergold", height 0.6-0.8 m, width 1-1.2 m, needles distinctly bright yellow in winter, yellow in summer, grows an average of 10 cm per year.
Black pine (Lat. Pinus nigra) is very beautiful with long needles, grows well in calcareous soils.
- Black pine variety "Globosa" height 1.2-1.5 m, width 1.2-1.5 m, crown spherical, needles green, long;
- Black pine variety “Green Tower” height 1.8-2m, width 0.5-0.6m, crown columnar, needles dark green, shiny, slow-growing;
- Black pine variety "Nana" height 0.8-1m, width 1m, crown wide, compact, needles dark green, long. Looks very good in plantings.
