What is the “Thrive” soil restoration method?
The “Thriving” method is a new generation of microbiological fertilizer instructions that allows anyone to start the process of restoring biodiversity in a simple but very effective way – from their own garden to vast ecosystems.
The method is based on microbiological fertilizer, which is simply created from naturally occurring materials by fermenting them. In this process, thousands of different types of valuable microorganisms multiply, which, when introduced into the soil, form a strong biological network in contact with plants and activate nature's self-renewal abilities. How and why did this method arise?
In May 2024, we planted a small forest garden in Madona municipality, Āaudona parish, using the Miyawaki method. This method basically involves densely planted various plants, soil enriched with organic materials, and most importantly - a large variety of added microorganisms. Microorganisms in this project should be the main "labor gnomes", which promote rapid growth.
In June, we prepared a microbiological fertilizer containing a large amount of various microorganisms and watered the newly planted plants with it.
The next time I saw this garden was two weeks later, and I was very surprised by the huge changes in both growth and overall plant health! It was the microorganisms in this fertilizer that played a key role in the garden's rapid flourishing!
Both this and other experiments using this method have proven that it is very influential and creates amazing changes in any environment!
This method of preparing microbiological fertilizer is based on the ancient traditions of fermentation, which humanity has been using for thousands of years - fermenting plant leaves and other organic materials. The outstanding gardener Dzambolat Kundukhov has refined this approach even further, combining a wide range of organic materials and carbohydrates to create an extremely viable living fertilizer, rich in countless species of microorganisms. Learning from the processes occurring in nature and the experience and experiments of my mother - gardener and soil researcher Guna Parfenovič, we have perfected this method over the past two years. How does it work?
Microorganisms are the invisible foundation of life — they are microscopic, but extremely important components of living nature, found in soil, air, water, plants, animals and humans. They ensure the balance and continuity of life in nature. Without them, the existence of neither plants, nor humans, nor the entire living world would be possible.
The role of microorganisms in soil:
· They break down organic matter and convert it into nutrients available to plants.
· Improves soil structure, promotes air and moisture permeability
· Helps the soil accumulate and retain nutrients and moisture
· Protects plants from diseases
· Promotes healthy, vibrant soil and environment.
To keep the soil healthy:
The presence of diverse microorganisms must be promoted. Today, most of the soil in the world is depleted and infertile – there is too little life in it – too few microorganisms necessary for soil and plants. By collecting various microorganisms from different environments – forests, meadows, gardens, parks, reservoirs, etc., propagating them and introducing this diversity into the soil (in the garden, greenhouse, field and elsewhere), microorganisms rapidly begin their activity and soil renewal and enrichment processes occur.
How is fertilizer prepared and used:
1. Collection – microorganisms are simply collected from various places in the environment, such as a forest, park, garden, etc.
2. Fermentation – they are placed in a container with water and carbohydrates (sugars), where the fermentation process takes place. In this way, microorganisms multiply a thousandfold within a few days, and at the same time they produce a concentrate of nutrients, vitamins, micro, macro and other elements for plants.
3. Use – the resulting liquid (fertilizer) is diluted with water and the plants are watered as needed - in the garden, greenhouse, field, indoors, in pots.
Result:
· Plants grow faster and are healthier
· Ingests more complete food
· Strengthens plant immunity and resistance to stress conditions (drought, heat, cold, pest attacks, etc.)
· The soil comes alive and regains its fertility in a naturally accelerated manner
